A less reliant country…

Working alongside Gilmerton Land Services, we documented the salvage and removal of long-forgotten materials buried beneath the surface of an old radar station near Anstruther, Scotland. What began as a site clearance quickly became a story of recovery - uncovering and reclaiming valuable resources that had been hidden underground for decades.

The project highlights the importance of reuse and responsible recovery in modern land management. By salvaging and repurposing these materials rather than simply disposing of them, Gilmerton Land Services not only reduced waste but also helped preserve the site’s environmental integrity.

It’s a reminder that even the most overlooked locations can hold value - both in the materials they conceal and the sustainable methods used to bring them back into circulation. This work reflects a growing commitment within the industry to turn forgotten sites into opportunities for regeneration, recovery, and responsible progress..
